Framon Manufacturing

Depth & Space Manual, Main Screen
Here is the main screen of our
Depth & Space Manual. You can select any of the following options:
1. Select Manufacturers, where you can
search for a lock manufacturer.
2. Key
Blanks is a key blank cross reference program.
3. Select Configure, where you can select
what type of key blank you wish to view.
4. Select Exit Program, to leave the
program.
5. Click on the Hints button (Question
Mark in lower left corner) for on-line help.
For our demo, we'll say that we clicked on Configure...
Depth & Space Manual, Configure
Screen
The Configure
screen allows you to customize the program "your way".
You can change your Displayed Key Blank
from a drop-down list, or view key cutting data in Metric
Mode.
To continue with our overview of the Depth & Space Manual, we'll go to the Manufacturers
Screen...
Manufacturers Screen
The Manufacturers
Screen gives us many options; here's what this screen is all about:
The Search For: box gives us the
opportunity to input the first few letters of the manufacturer we are looking
for.
The Add, Edit, and Delete buttons allow us
to add new charts, edit old charts, and delete unwanted information (once it's
gone, it's gone for good, so be careful!)
Our listing shows an alphabetical listing of all manufacturers in the database,
as well as Ilco key blanks (if there is not a blank listed, it is most likely an
original-only blank).
For our showing, we will go to the Add
section...
Add Screen
The Add
Screen has many places to input information, and there are actually four screens
to this section:
The top section showing Manufacturer, Key Series, Lock Type and Recommended
Cutter is always shown no matter which screen we are working in.
The Key Blanks section is where we list
the different blank numbers for all of the different key blank manufacturers
that we know of. You can associate one key blank with this series.
Depths is where the depth of each cut is
entered, as well as MACS and other masterkey-related info which the program only
needs if you use our masterkey program.
Spacings is where the starting cut,
spacing, etc. are entered. Also, the program has a Calc Locations button which
will calculate the spaces after the starting cut, number of cuts, and spacing is
entered, so you don't have to calculate these figures out.
The Comments section allows you to enter
information about the loading of the key in our machine, as well as add any
comments (short or additional). Short comments are restricted to only 20
characters; Additional Notes can be as much information as you wish to enter.
When you add information to 'Additional Notes', the program will attach a small
button to the chart when viewed, which pulls up this information. We'll get to
that soon...
Manufacturers Screen (Second Time!)
Here's our Manufacturers
screen, a little different this time. We have entered the first few letters of
the chart we are looking up (SC). The program has brought us down to the closest
match. By hitting the enter key or double-clicking on the blue bar, we will go
to our next screen, where all of our info is displayed.
Information Screen
This screen displays all of our depth and space
information, loading information, etc. Note the small button to the right of the
Comments line. When we entered additional notes on this chart, the notes can be
accessed by clicking on this button...
Additional Comments...
Our additional comments that we entered are shown
above. The box can be resized, so you can basically enter as much information as
your computer can store! Remember, when you buy the Framon Depth & Space
Manual on Disk, you get:
1. Hundreds of Depth & Space Charts: We
have been adding depth & space charts to our book for over 30 years! Nothing
is ever deleted, only added. Almost any cylinder key in use today is listed in
our depth & space manual; if you need to cut a key, you can most likely find
the specs here!
2.Easy To Update: Using the Edit keys, you
can easily update your manual by your self. Our web page always lists the newest
specs, simply print out a copy & add them at your leisure. For those who
would prefer updates every year, we will be selling updated disks yearly for the
book.
